Luanda Erupts: Fires, Blocked Highway as Residents React to Osotsi Attack

What started as anger is now turning into full-blown unrest in Luanda.

Residents in Luanda, Vihiga County, have taken to the streets, lighting bonfires along the busy Luanda Highway and bringing traffic to a near standstill. The demonstrations, which began earlier today, have caused major disruptions, leaving motorists stranded for hours.

At the center of the protests is the recent attack on Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi.

The senator was reportedly assaulted at Java Cafe in Kisumu, an incident that quickly spread across the region and sparked outrage among his supporters and residents back home. For many in Luanda, the attack crossed a line.

Protesters Demand Action

Protesters say they are demanding immediate action from the government, calling for the swift arrest of those responsible. Chants, burning tires, and blocked roads have now become the language of their frustration.

"We cannot stay silent when our leader is attacked like this," one resident said during the demonstrations.

Traffic and Business Disrupted

Despite the growing tension, security agencies have yet to fully contain the situation, and no clear timeline has been given on when the protests will end. Meanwhile, commuters and business owners along the highway are counting losses as movement remains heavily restricted.
