Woman Kills Husband Over 30 Shillings in Mbihi Vihiga County
What began as a minor disagreement in a quiet Vihiga village has ended in a heartbreaking loss that few can fully comprehend.
Residents of Chanzuvu village in Mbihi location are still trying to process the tragic death of 27-year-old Abdallah Jumah, a man described by locals as humble and hardworking. The incident, now under investigation, has left behind more questions than answers — and three young children without a father.
According to early reports, the conflict started over what seemed like a small matter. Abdallah's wife, aged 24, had reportedly given him 50 shillings to charge a phone, expecting 30 shillings back. But when he explained that he had already used the money and would return it later, tension quickly began to build.
What might have ended as a simple misunderstanding instead turned into a heated exchange. The argument reportedly intensified, with harsh words exchanged and accusations made. At one point, the woman is said to have questioned her husband's effort to provide, insisting that she had worked for the money.
Sensing the situation was escalating, Abdallah chose to step away. That night, he avoided further confrontation by sleeping in the sitting room — a move some say showed he wanted to keep the peace.
But the calm didn't last.
The following morning, the disagreement resumed. As Abdallah prepared to leave for his daily hustle in Visiru, he reportedly bent down to wash his hands and legs outside. It was at that vulnerable moment that the situation took a deadly turn.
Authorities say the woman allegedly attacked him from behind, stabbing him. Despite attempting to pursue her, Abdallah collapsed shortly after and succumbed to his injuries.
Police quickly responded to the scene, and the suspect was arrested. She is currently being held at Mbale Police Station as investigations continue.
The incident has sent shockwaves across the community, with many struggling to understand how such a small dispute could escalate into such a devastating outcome.
Beyond the tragedy itself, the story has left behind a painful reality — three young children, including twins, now growing up without their father.
Community members have since called for calm, reflection, and better ways of handling conflict, especially within families. Many say this is a painful reminder of how quickly emotions can spiral out of control when not managed.
