Senator Godfrey Osotsi has broken his silence after days of concern, stepping out of hospital with a message that is already drawing attention across Vihiga County and beyond.

Speaking shortly after his discharge from Karen Hospital in Nairobi, Osotsi expressed gratitude for what he described as a second chance at life following a recent attack in Kisumu that left many in Western Kenya shaken.

The senator appeared calm but firm, making it clear that the incident should not be misinterpreted along ethnic lines—a narrative that had begun to circulate in some quarters in Luanda, Mbale, and other parts of Vihiga.

No Tribal Angle, Says Osotsi

According to him, the attack was not driven by tribal tensions. Instead, he described it as an act of hooliganism, claiming it was staged and sponsored by individuals he says are "well known" within the political circles of Kenya.

While he did not name those he believes were responsible, his remarks have already sparked speculation and debate among supporters in Sabatia, Hamisi, and Emuhaya, as well as observers across the Western Kenya region.

"This was not about tribe. This was about politics and interests. The people behind this are well known, and the truth will come out," Osotsi stated firmly.

Gratitude to Family and Supporters

Osotsi took a moment to thank those who stood by him during his hospital stay, including his wife Jamila and his children, who he said gave him strength throughout the ordeal.

He also acknowledged the support of the Linda Mwananchi team, leaders from across the political divide—including those from Vihiga County—and supporters from Chavakali to Kaimosi who visited and prayed for his recovery.

In addition, he expressed appreciation to the Parliament of Kenya and the Clerk of the Senate for their support during the difficult period that had many constituents in Maragoli and Serem deeply concerned.

The Kisumu Incident

The incident itself, which occurred in Kisumu earlier in the week, had raised security concerns and drawn reactions from various leaders across Vihiga and the larger Western Kenya region, with many calling for calm and restraint.

Now, with Osotsi back on his feet and speaking out, attention is shifting to what happens next—especially around his claims that the attack was organized and staged by known political operatives.

For many residents in Vihiga town and surrounding areas, the biggest question remains unanswered: who exactly was behind it?
