Mob Justice Horror in Kisumu: Suspect Dragged from Hospital and Lynched to death by Angry Crowd
Shock and outrage have gripped residents of Kisumu County after a suspected criminal was brutally lynched by a mob that stormed a hospital where he had been taken for treatment.
The incident occurred in Kabanyo/Kanyagwal Ward at Nyangande Market, where locals reportedly took the law into their own hands in a disturbing act of mob justice.
According to reports, the suspect had earlier been captured by residents who accused him of engaging in criminal activities in the area. The crowd descended on him, beating him severely before police officers intervened, rescued him, and rushed him to hospital for urgent medical care.
Hospital Breach
However, the situation took a deadly turn when the same group of angry residents regrouped and followed the suspect to the hospital. Witnesses say the mob overpowered the police officers who had been guarding him and forcefully gained access to the ward where he was receiving treatment.
In a shocking scene, the crowd reportedly ordered medical staff to step aside before confronting the suspect. They questioned why he should receive treatment only to allegedly return to crime. When he failed to respond, the mob removed his medical drips and bandages, dragged him out of the hospital, and continued the assault.
The suspect died during the attack.
Aftermath and Investigation
In an even more chilling development, the mob is said to have carried the lifeless body back to the hospital, where it was later moved to the morgue as authorities began investigations.
Police are now expected to launch a full investigation into the incident, including how the mob managed to breach hospital security and overpower officers on duty.
The tragic event has once again raised serious concerns about rising cases of mob justice in parts of the country. Leaders and human rights advocates continue to warn that taking the law into one's own hands not only undermines justice but also leads to the loss of innocent lives.
Authorities are urging members of the public to report suspected criminals to the police and allow due process to take its course, emphasizing that justice must be served within the law.
