Shock in Nakuru as PCEA Pastor Is Killed Inside Church Compound by Armed Attackers

PCEA Tabuga Church in Lanet, Nakuru County where a pastor was killed by armed attackers

Shock and fear have spread across parts of Nakuru County after a pastor was brutally killed by armed suspects inside his own church compound.

The incident happened on the night of Sunday, April 3, at PCEA Tabuga in Lanet, Bahati Constituency. According to early reports, unknown attackers stormed into the pastor's house, which is located within the church compound, before carrying out the deadly act.

What has left many residents disturbed is not just the killing itself—but where it happened.

For many people, a church is seen as a place of safety, peace, and refuge. But this incident has shaken that belief. If such a place can be targeted, residents are now asking, where else is safe?

The attackers are also said to have stolen property from the church before escaping, raising further concerns about security in the area.

A Pattern of Violence

Local residents say this is not an isolated case.

According to community members, Lanet has experienced more than 10 murder cases in recent times, with little or no arrests made. This has created a growing sense of fear, frustration, and anger among the people.

Former Member of Parliament Kimani Ngunjiri spoke emotionally about the incident, revealing that he personally knew the pastor.

He described him as a man who preached peace and unity, recalling their last meeting during a funeral service. To him, the killing is not just a loss to the church, but to the entire community.

"If even religious leaders are not safe, then ordinary residents are at even greater risk. The continued silence and inaction could push residents to take matters into their own hands for protection."

Calls for Action

Some locals have already expressed fears of walking freely, saying cases of stabbings and violent attacks have become too common. Many now avoid carrying valuables like phones or money due to insecurity.

Area Member of Parliament Irene Njoki also condemned the incident and called on law enforcement agencies to act quickly. She urged anyone with information to come forward and assist in the arrest of the suspects.

Despite these calls, tension remains high in Lanet.

Residents are now looking to the government for urgent action, hoping that this tragic incident will finally lead to serious measures to restore security in the area.

For now, the community mourns a man who served them with faith and peace—taken away in a place where many believed he was safest.

May he rest in peace.
